About Tangletown
Tangletown is a friendly place where about 4,600 people live. It's part of a larger area called the Southwest community in Minneapolis.
Where is Tangletown?
This neighborhood has clear borders. To the north, you'll find 46th Street. On the east side, it's next to Interstate 35W. Diamond Lake Road forms the southern edge, and Lyndale Avenue South is on the west.
Why the Name "Tangletown"?
Before 1996, this area was officially called Fuller. But people started calling it Tangletown because of its "tangled" or winding streets. Unlike many other neighborhoods in Minneapolis that have a grid pattern (like a checkerboard), Tangletown's streets curve and turn. This unique street design led to its new, official name.
