Tania Cagnotto (born May 15, 1985) is a famous Italian diver. She made history as the first Italian woman to win a medal at a World Championship in diving! Tania competed in five Olympic Games, showing incredible skill. In her last Olympics in 2016, she won medals in both individual and synchronized springboard diving. She's also won an amazing 20 championships at the European level.

About Tania Cagnotto

Tania Cagnotto was born in Bolzano, Italy. Her parents, Giorgio Cagnotto and Carmen Casteiner, were both Olympic divers. Her father even won four Olympic medals in the 1970s and 1980s! It seems diving runs in the family.

Tania was supported by the sports part of the Italian police force, called GN Fiamme Gialle – Bolzano Nuoto.

Tania's Early Career and First Medals

Tania won her first gold medal at the European Championships in Madrid when she was 19. She won the 10-meter platform event and also earned a bronze medal in the 3-meter springboard competition.

After a tough time in the 10-meter platform at the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, she bounced back. She won a bronze medal in the 3-meter springboard event.

World Championship Success

Tania continued to shine at the World Championships. She won a third bronze medal in the 3-meter springboard at the 2009 World Championships in Rome. She also teamed up with Francesca Dallapè to win a silver medal in the 3-meter synchronized springboard event.

At the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona, Tania earned a silver medal in the 1-meter springboard. She was just 0.1 points behind the champion, He Zi!

In 2015, Tania made history again at the 2015 FINA World Championship in Kazan. She won the gold medal in the 1-meter springboard, becoming the first Italian female diver to win a World Championship in diving! At the same event, she also won a bronze medal in the 3-meter springboard.

Olympic Achievements and Retirement

Tania announced that the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro would be her fifth and final Olympic Games. After just missing out on medals in London in 2012, she finally achieved her Olympic dream in Rio. She won a silver medal in the 3-meter synchronized diving with her partner Francesca Dallapé. She also earned a bronze medal in the women's individual 3-meter springboard event.

Tania competed in her very last competition in Torino from May 12-14, 2017, in the 1-meter springboard. After retiring from competitive diving, she shared that she planned to coach diving.

Tania's Family Life

Tania Cagnotto is married to Stefano Parolin. They have two daughters. Their first daughter, Maya, was born on January 23, 2018, in Bolzano. Their second daughter, Lisa, was born in 2021.
