Tanoai Reed (born February 10, 1974) is an American stuntman and actor. He is famous for being the stunt double for his cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Tanoai Reed was born in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, on February 10, 1974. He has Samoan roots, and also some Irish, Norwegian, and Swedish family history. When his parents separated, he grew up in California. Later, he moved back to Hawaiʻi to live with his grandmother.

He went to Kahuku High School and the University of Hawaiʻi. Today, he still lives on Oahu's North Shore with his wife. They both strongly support local businesses and help protect nature in Hawaiʻi.

His Exciting Career

Tanoai Reed's career as a stuntman began in 1995. His first job was on the movie Waterworld. A stuntman is a person who performs dangerous actions in movies or TV shows. These actions are too risky for the main actors to do themselves.

He started working regularly as a stunt double for his cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. This means Tanoai would perform the stunts that Dwayne's characters needed to do. Their first movie together was The Scorpion King in 2002.

Tanoai has also appeared in other projects. He was in the music video for the Black Eyed Peas song "Pump It" in 2005. In 2008, he joined the TV show American Gladiators as the gladiator named Toa. In his first episode, he performed a short version of "Ka Mate". This is a New Zealand Māori haka, which is a traditional dance or challenge.
