The Taste of Buffalo is the biggest two-day food festival in the United States. It takes place every year in Buffalo, New York. The festival is held in the heart of Downtown Buffalo. It stretches along Delaware Avenue, from Niagara Square to Chippewa Street. Many restaurants and food trucks from the Buffalo area join in. Some national companies also help sponsor the event. The main goal of the Taste of Buffalo is to offer a fun and affordable festival. It aims to improve life in the Niagara Frontier region. It also helps promote downtown Buffalo.

History of the Festival
The Taste of Buffalo started in 1984. It is a non-profit event, meaning it's not run to make money. By 2014, nearly 450,000 people visited the festival each year. More than 1,000 volunteers help run the event.
Helping the Community
The festival has raised over $360,000 for different charities. It also gives out five $1,000 scholarships every year. These scholarships help local high school students. They are for students who want to study cooking or hospitality in college.
Key Milestones
The 30th Taste of Buffalo happened on July 13 and 14, 2013. In 2018, the festival celebrated its 35th anniversary. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held online in 2020.
What to See and Eat
During the festival, there are usually two or three stages. These stages offer live music all day long. There is also a special Culinary Stage. Here, chefs show how to cook different dishes.
Food and Drink Options
More than 50 local restaurants and wineries take part. Local and national sponsors also give out free samples. They often have fun, interactive displays too. Most restaurants are from Buffalo and the surrounding areas. However, some come from nearby cities like Rochester and Batavia.
Popular Dishes
You can find many different foods at the festival. Some Buffalo favorites include beef on weck and buffalo wings. Other popular dishes are chicken and waffles, prime rib, and hot dogs. There are also many vegetarian options.
International Flavors
The festival has also featured foods from around the world. Past offerings have included sponge candy, chicken tikka masala, and pierogies. You might also find shrimp nachos, watermelon gazpacho, Pad thai, and Jamaican patties. Even rice pudding has been served. For the 35th anniversary, a special beer was made just for the festival.
