Tatsuya Ishikawa started his football journey after finishing university. He joined Kashima Antlers in 2002. In his first year, he started playing more often as a left side back. This is a defensive position on the left side of the field.

During his time with Kashima Antlers, the team had some great moments. They won the 2002 J.League Cup. They also finished second in the 2002 Emperor's Cup and the 2003 J.League Cup. However, after 2004, Ishikawa played less because another player, Toru Araiba, joined the team.

In May 2006, Ishikawa moved to Tokyo Verdy. Here, he got more chances to play on the field. The next year, in 2007, he joined Montedio Yamagata. This move was a big step for his career.

He played as a left stopper in a defense system that used three defenders. He continued to play for Montedio Yamagata until the end of the 2017 season. After that, he retired from professional football.
