Where is Taylors Island?

Taylors Island is in the western part of Dorchester County. It sits right on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay. A small waterway called Slaughter Creek separates it from the mainland to the east. You can take Maryland Route 16 northeast from Taylors Island. This road leads about 16 miles (26 km) to Cambridge. Cambridge is the main town and county seat of Dorchester County.

The area known as Taylors Island is a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a specific area the government uses for counting people. The CDP covers the central, northern, and western parts of the island. It has a total area of about 4.16 square miles (10.8 square kilometers). Only a very small part of this area, about 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometers), is water.
