Princess Teri'i-na-vaha-roa (born August 8, 1879, died April 27, 1917) was the very last queen of the Kingdom of Huahine and Mai'ao. She ruled from 1893 to 1895. Some people at the time called her Tehaapapa II. This was even though there was an earlier Queen Tehaapapa I when James Cook visited the island.

Life of Queen Teha'apapa III

Queen Teha'apapa III was part of the Teururai royal family of Huahine. This family had ruled the island for a long time. She became the Queen of Huahine in 1893.

She was the last queen to rule Huahine. Her reign lasted from 1893 to 1895. She was the oldest daughter of Marama Teururai, who was a Prince Regent of Huahine. Her mother was Princess Tetuanuimarama a Te-u-ru-ari'i from Rurutu.

When she became queen, she took the special royal name Te-ha'apapa III. However, her rule ended in September 1895. This was when the island of Huahine became part of France.

Queen Teha'apapa III's Marriages and Children

Queen Teha'apapa III married twice. Her first marriage was in Fare on May 15, 1895. She married Teri'i-te-vae-a-ra'i-a-Mai. He was from a royal family in Bora Bora. They later divorced on August 6, 1897.

She had one son with her first husband. Later, in 1900, she married a local noble man named Tini-tua a Tu-ari'i-hi'o-noa. She had eleven more children with him.

Queen Teha'apapa III passed away in Fare on April 27, 1917.
