Places of Worship: The Mount Bethel Chapel
A special building called the Mount Bethel Wesleyan Jubilee chapel was built in Templers. People in the area had been meeting for worship in homes and sheds since the early 1850s. The chapel was started in 1863 and finished in 1864.
How the Chapel Connected to Other Towns
At first, the chapel was part of a larger group of churches connected to Gawler. Later, starting in 1870, it became part of a group that included Templers, Wasleys, Freeling, and Sheaoak Log. In 1880, Stockport also joined this group.
