The TenderCrisp is a popular chicken sandwich sold by the international fast-food restaurant chain Burger King. In Australia, it is sold by Burger King's partner, Hungry Jack's. It is known as one of their bigger, more filling menu items.

About the TenderCrisp Sandwich

The TenderCrisp sandwich was created to offer customers a different kind of chicken sandwich. It was part of Burger King's plan to add more choices to their menu. These new items were designed to appeal to adults looking for a larger and tastier meal.

What's in It?

The TenderCrisp sandwich has a crispy, breaded chicken fillet that is deep-fried. It also includes creamy mayonnaise, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomato. All these ingredients are served on a soft brioche bun.

Where Else Is It Sold?

  • In the Middle East, this sandwich is known by a different name: the King Chicken Fillet.

History of the TenderCrisp

The TenderCrisp chicken sandwich was first introduced to the public in 2004.

How It Was Advertised

The TenderCrisp sandwich was first advertised using a funny character called the Subservient Chicken. This character appeared in a commercial called The Subservient Chicken Vest. This ad was one of the first in a series of very popular online promotions for Burger King. These ads were created by a company called Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

In the first ad, a man in his living room tells a person dressed in a chicken suit to do whatever he wants. The main message of the ad was "Chicken the way you like it." The Subservient Chicken became very popular. Because of its success, Burger King used the character in many more ads later on.

In 2004, Burger King also brought out a new version called the TenderCrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch. This sandwich was promoted with a national ad campaign called Fantasy Ranch. The commercial featured singer Darius Rucker (from the band Hootie and the Blowfish). He sang a catchy song that sounded like "Big Rock Candy Mountain." The Subservient Chicken character also appeared in this ad, having fun with some dancers.

In 2005, Burger King started its Chicken Fights campaign. This campaign used two chicken characters in ads for the Spicy TenderCrisp. The ads showed the original chicken character in a pretend boxing match with a new chicken character that had orange feathers. Another commercial in 2006 showed a man riding on the chicken. It looked like an old movie from the 1960s and had a friendly song called "Big Buckin' Chicken."
