Terence de Vere White (born April 29, 1912 – died June 17, 1994) was an Irish lawyer, writer, and editor. He was known for his many books, including novels and biographies, and for his work as a literary editor for a major newspaper.

Terence de Vere White was born in Dublin, Ireland. He studied at Trinity College, Dublin and became a lawyer. He worked at a big law firm in Dublin for some time.

Later, he stopped practicing law. He became the literary editor for The Irish Times newspaper. This meant he was in charge of the books and literature sections. He held this important job from 1961 to 1977.

In 1968, he wrote about the Constitution of Ireland and the political system. He shared his thoughts on how the government worked in Ireland. He retired from The Irish Times in 1977.

Over his life, he wrote many books. He published twelve novels, five biographies of famous people, and two collections of short stories. He also wrote five other books on various topics.

Terence de Vere White married Mary O'Farrell in 1941. They had two sons and one daughter together. At the time of his death, he was married to Victoria Glendinning.
