Her Early Life and Family
Teri'i-maeva-rua II was born on May 23, 1841, on the island of Raiatea. Her parents were Ariʻifaʻaite a Hiro and Pōmare IV. Her mother, Queen Pōmare IV, was a very famous ruler of Tahiti. This made Teri'i-maeva-rua II a princess from a very important royal family.
Becoming Queen of Bora Bora
Teri'i-maeva-rua II became the Queen of Bora Bora on July 26, 1860. This happened after her stepfather, Tapoa II, passed away. She was officially crowned queen on August 3, 1860. As queen, she was responsible for leading the people of Bora Bora.
Her Marriage and Successor
Queen Teri'i-maeva-rua II married a man named Temauiari'i a Ma'i. They did not have any children of their own. However, they adopted a young girl named Ari'i-'Otare Teri'i-maeva-rua. She was the daughter of Teri'i-maeva-rua II's brother, Tamatoa V. This adopted daughter later became the next queen of Bora Bora.
The Next Queen
After Queen Teri'i-maeva-rua II passed away on February 12, 1873, her adopted daughter became the new ruler. She took the name Teriimaevarua III. She continued to rule Bora Bora until March 19, 1888.
