Terry Raymond Davis (born June 17, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a power forward and center. Terry Davis played for several teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA). These teams included the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, and Denver Nuggets.

Terry Davis's Basketball Career
College Years at Virginia Union University
Terry Davis played college basketball for four seasons. He was a student at Virginia Union University from 1985 to 1989. For three of those seasons, he was a starting player for his team. In his final year, he averaged 22.3 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
Playing for the Miami Heat
Terry Davis started his NBA career with the Miami Heat. He joined the team as a free agent, meaning he was not chosen in the NBA draft. This was during the 1989–90 NBA season. The Heat was a new team, only in its second year. Davis played in 63 games during his first season. In the next season, he played in fewer games (55). However, he scored more points and got more rebounds on average.
Time with the Dallas Mavericks
On August 6, 1991, Terry Davis signed with the Dallas Mavericks. In his first season with the Mavericks, he was excellent at getting rebounds. He grabbed 9.9 rebounds per game during the 1991-92 season. This placed him 15th among all NBA players. He had another strong season in 1992–93. After that, his next three seasons were affected by injuries. This caused his performance to drop.
Joining the Washington Wizards
After taking a year off from the NBA, Terry Davis returned to play. He joined the Washington Wizards for the 1997–98 season. While playing for the Wizards, he made history. He was the first player to score a basket at the new MCI Center in Washington, D.C..
Final NBA Team: Denver Nuggets
After two seasons with the Wizards, Terry Davis took another year off from the NBA. He then signed with the Denver Nuggets for the 2000–01 season. He played in 21 games during his time with the Nuggets.

Terry Davis has a son named Ed. Ed also became a professional basketball player. In 2008, some experts ranked Ed as the second-best player in his high school class. He played college basketball at the University of North Carolina. In the 2010 NBA draft, Ed was chosen as the 13th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors.
