Terry Bluford Moore (born May 27, 1912 – died March 29, 1995) was a talented American baseball player. He was a center fielder, a manager, and a coach. Terry played most of his career for the St. Louis Cardinals. He also coached for the Cardinals and managed the Philadelphia Phillies for a short time.

Playing Baseball: Terry Moore's Career
Terry Moore was a right-handed batter and thrower. He started his professional baseball journey in 1932. In 1934, he played very well in the American Association. This helped him join the St. Louis Cardinals the next year.
Moore joined the Cardinals right after the famous Gashouse Gang team won the 1934 World Series. He played in 1,298 games during his career. He had a batting average of .280 and hit 80 home runs.
World Series Wins and All-Star Games
Terry Moore was a key player on two teams that won the National League championship. These teams also won the World Series. They were the 1942 and 1946 Cardinals.
During his time playing, he played with many famous baseball stars. These included Dizzy Dean, Joe Medwick, and Stan Musial. All of these players are now in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Terry Moore was the captain of these great Cardinals teams.
On September 5, 1935, Moore had an amazing game. He got 6 hits in 6 tries against the Boston Braves. The Cardinals won that game 15-3.
A Great Center Fielder
Terry Moore was also known for being an excellent center fielder. He was so good that many people believe he would have won several Gold Glove awards. These awards are given to the best defensive players. However, the Gold Glove award did not exist yet when he played.
Moore had a very high fielding percentage of .985 in his career. This means he made very few errors. He was chosen as an All-Star for four years in a row. This was from 1939 to 1942.
After Playing: Coaching and Managing
After his playing career ended, Terry Moore continued in baseball. He worked as a coach for the Cardinals for two periods. These were from 1949 to 1952 and again from 1956 to 1958.
He also became a manager for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1954. He started that year as a scout for the Phillies. Then, on July 15, he took over as manager. He managed the team for exactly half of the season, 77 games. His team won 35 of those games.
