Terry Peak is a mountain and a fun ski area in the U.S.. You can find it in the Black Hills of South Dakota, near the town of Lead. It's a tall mountain, reaching 7,064 feet (2,153 m) above sea level. This makes it one of the highest peaks in the northern Black Hills.

The mountain got its name from Alfred Howe Terry, an explorer who visited the area long ago. People started skiing here in 1936. The Bald Mountain Ski Club put in the first "rope tow" to pull skiers up the hill. Later, in 1952, the first chairlift was installed, making it even easier to enjoy the slopes. Since then, Terry Peak has added many new chairlifts, ski trails, and places for visitors to stay.

Today, Terry Peak has three "high-speed" chairlifts. These lifts, named Kussy, Surprise, and Gold Corp Express, get you to the top of the mountain very quickly. There is also one regular-speed chairlift called Stewart, and a "Sno-Carpet" for beginners. In 1971, Terry Peak was even chosen to host the NCAA Skiing Championships, a big college skiing competition. You might also notice some radio towers at the very top of the mountain.
