Terry Taylor (born September 23, 1999) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Stockton Kings in the NBA G League. Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the Austin Peay Governors.

Early Life and High School Basketball

Terry Taylor grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He went to Bowling Green High School. In his junior year, he was a star player. He averaged 15.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. He was also named second-team All-State.

Before his senior year, Taylor decided to play college basketball at Austin Peay State University. Other colleges like Texas Southern and Southeast Missouri State also wanted him. As a senior, he continued to shine. He averaged 17.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.

Taylor was named first-team All-State. He also won the MVP award at the Kentucky Sweet 16 tournament. He led Bowling Green to its first state championship. He scored 20.5 points and grabbed 10 rebounds per game during the tournament. Over his four years in high school, Taylor scored 1,704 points and got 1,300 rebounds.

College Basketball Career

Terry Taylor started strong in college. As a freshman, he averaged 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He was named the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Freshman of the Year. He also made the first-team All-OVC.

In his second year, he averaged 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. He was again named first-team All-OVC. He scored his 1,000th college point in a game against Eastern Illinois. This was part of a great game where he had 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Taylor scored a career-high 39 points in a win against McKendree. This happened on December 17. On January 23, 2020, he made six three-pointers. He scored 37 points and had 14 rebounds in a win over Tennessee State.

As a junior, Taylor was named the Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He also made first-team All-OVC for the third time. He averaged 21.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. After this season, he thought about joining the 2020 NBA draft. But he decided to return for his senior year instead. On December 5, 2020, Taylor scored his 2,000th career point in a game against Carver College.

Professional Basketball Journey

Starting with the Pacers

Terry Taylor was not chosen in the 2021 NBA draft. But he signed with the Indiana Pacers on August 5, 2021. He later joined the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. This team is part of the NBA G League. He played very well there, averaging 19.5 points and 12.1 rebounds in 11 games.

On December 15, 2021, Taylor signed a special contract with the Pacers. It was a "two-way contract." This meant he could play for both the Pacers (NBA) and the Mad Ants (G League). On February 2, 2022, he had an amazing game against the Orlando Magic. He scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. This was his first "double-double" in the NBA. The Pacers then gave him a regular contract on April 7. He played for the Pacers until February 9, 2023, when he was waived.

Time with the Bulls

On February 22, 2023, Taylor signed another two-way contract. This time, it was with the Chicago Bulls. He later signed a standard contract with them on August 14. He played for the Bulls and their G League team, the Windy City Bulls. He was waived by the Bulls on April 4, 2024.

Joining the Stockton Kings

On September 23, 2024, Taylor signed with the Sacramento Kings. However, he was waived by them on October 18. On October 27, he joined his current team, the Stockton Kings. They are also part of the NBA G League.
