Tetris Attack is a fun puzzle video game. It came out in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and Game Boy. Intelligent Systems made the game, and Nintendo published it. It's the first game in a series called Puzzle League. In Japan, it was first known as Panel de Pon. It had different characters there. But for the English version, they used characters from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

How to Play Tetris Attack

In Tetris Attack, you clear colorful blocks. You do this by lining up three or more blocks of the same kind. You can make these lines go across (horizontal) or up and down (vertical).

As you play, new blocks keep coming down from the top. This makes the whole play area rise up. If the blocks reach the very top of the screen, you lose the game! You can stop the blocks from rising by clearing them quickly.

Playing Against Friends

When you play against another person, clearing many blocks at once creates "combos." These combos send special "garbage" blocks to your opponent's side. Your opponent then has to clear these extra blocks. You can get rid of garbage blocks by clearing the regular blocks right below them.

Game Modes

Tetris Attack has different ways to play, both by yourself and with friends.

Single-Player Modes

  • Story Mode: You play through a story and battle against computer opponents. Your goal is to make their blocks reach the top of their screen before yours do.
  • Endless Mode: In this mode, you play for as long as you can. The game gets faster and faster over time, making it more challenging.
  • Timed Mode: You have two minutes to score as many points as possible. Try to clear blocks quickly to get a high score!
  • Stage Clear: You go through different stages. In each stage, you need to clear all the blocks below a certain line to win.
  • Puzzle Mode: This mode gives you special puzzles. You have to clear all the blocks in a certain number of moves. It makes you think carefully!

Multiplayer Modes

You can also play most of these modes with a friend. This means you can challenge someone else in a head-to-head match, just like in Story Mode.
