The Addams Family is an American animated TV show. It was made by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The show is based on the funny and spooky characters created by Charles Addams in his comic strips.
This cartoon was the second animated series about the Addams Family. The first one was also made by Hanna-Barbera in 1973. This version aired from September 12, 1992, to November 6, 1993, on the ABC network. The idea for the show came after the successful Addams Family movie in 1991. There were two seasons of the cartoon.
About the Show
The series follows the Addams Family in their old, spooky home. Their house is in a town called Happydale Heights. Most stories are about the family dealing with everyday problems. But they solve them in their own unique, strange ways.
Sometimes, the Addams family meets the Normanmeyer family. The Normanmeyers often try to get rid of the Addamses from their town. However, the Normanmeyers' son is friends with the Addams children. Each episode usually ends with the Addams family celebrating their success with a fun family dance.
The show made the Addams family's strange habits a bit softer for kids. For example, Gomez's love for cigars was not shown. Also, his reactions to Morticia speaking foreign languages were just quick kisses. The show's creators made sure the stories were similar to other cartoons shown on Saturday mornings at the time.
Meet the Voices
Many talented actors gave voices to the characters in the show. Here are some of the main voice actors:

- He had played Gomez in the live-action 1960s TV series.

- Debi Derryberry as Wednesday Addams
- Jeannie Elias as Pugsley Addams
- Rip Taylor as Uncle Fester
- Carol Channing as Granny Frump
- Jim Cummings as Lurch
- He also voiced many other small characters in the series.
- Pat Fraley as Cousin Itt
- Rob Paulsen as Norman Normanmeyer
- He based the character's voice on an impression of Paul Lynde.
- Edie McClurg as Normina Normanmeyer
- Dick Beals as Norman "N.J." Normanmeyer Jr.
Other voices were provided by Ernest Harada, Susan Silo, Pamela Segall, Marcia Wallace, and Héctor Elizondo.
How the Show Was Made
New drawings and designs were used for the characters in this series. They still looked a lot like the original comic book characters. For example, Lurch has blue skin in this cartoon show. The famous The Addams Family Theme song was used again. It was re-recorded with a deep, low singing voice.
Cool Merchandise
Playmates Toys made a series of nine action figures based on The Addams Family cartoon. These figures included Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Pugsley, and Granny. Each toy could move in several places and came with accessories. They also had a small card with information about the character. No TV commercials were made for these toys. There were also books based on the show.
