Susan Silo was born in New York City. Her parents, Jon Silo and Ruth Silo, were also actors. Growing up with actors for parents likely helped her discover her own talent for performing.
Susan Silo's Acting Career
Susan Silo started her acting journey on television. Her first TV appearance was on The Jerry Lewis Show in 1957. She was only 15 years old when she won a contest to sing on the show! She beat out 350 other people who tried out.
Early TV Roles
After her singing debut, Susan Silo appeared in many popular TV shows. She was a guest star on series like The Jack Benny Program and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. She also appeared in classic Westerns such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
One of her early main roles was in the NBC sitcom Harry's Girls. In this show, she played Rusty, a member of a vaudeville group traveling around Europe. She acted alongside Larry Blyden in this series.
Voice Acting Success
Susan Silo is very well known for her voice acting. She even teaches workshops and gives lectures about it across the country. Her voice acting career began by voicing a talking cow for Land O' Lakes Margarine commercials. She did this for over ten years!

Susan Silo was married to actor Burr DeBenning. They had two sons together. Burr DeBenning passed away in 2003. Later, Susan Silo married Michael Irwin Nave.
