Dr. Dolittle 3 is a fun fantasy comedy film from 2006. It stars Kyla Pratt as Maya Dolittle. Maya is the daughter from the earlier Dr. Dolittle movies.
In this movie, Kristen Wilson plays Maya's mom, Lisa Dolittle. Norm Macdonald is the voice of Lucky the Dog. This is the third movie in the Dr. Dolittle series. It's the first one without Eddie Murphy as Dr. Dolittle. Also, Raven-Symoné (who played Charisse Dolittle) is not in it. But the movie does mention them!
What Happens in the Movie?
Maya (Kyla Pratt) has changed a lot since the first Dr. Dolittle movie. She used to be shy and loved her science projects. Now, Maya is a typical teenager. Like her sister Charisse, she can talk to animals, just like her dad, John. This ability has really changed her life!
Maya often gets into trouble with her parents. Her friends also think she is a bit strange. Her dad, John, is away on a business trip. So, Maya's mom, Lisa (Kristen Wilson), sends Maya and her dog Lucky (voiced by Norm Macdonald) to a dude ranch. The ranch is called "Durango." Lisa hopes Maya can find herself there.
The ranch is owned by a man named Jud (John Amos) and his son, Bo (Walker Howard). Maya tries to keep her animal-talking secret. But she ends up using her special talent to help save Durango ranch. A nearby ranch wants to take over Durango.
At first, Maya is scared to tell others about her ability. She worries her friends will reject her. But she finally shares her secret. With Maya's help, the Durango ranch enters a rodeo competition. The prize is $50,000! They win the competition. Maya also shares her first kiss with Bo and wins his heart.
