Kyla Alissa Pratt (born September 16, 1986) is a talented American actress. She is famous for lending her voice to Penny Proud in the popular Disney Channel cartoon, The Proud Family. She also played Breanna Latrice Barnes in the TV show One on One.
Kyla Pratt also starred as Maya Dolittle, the daughter of Eddie Murphy's character, in the movies Dr. Dolittle and Dr. Dolittle 2. Later, she became the main star in the Dr. Dolittle spin-off movies like Dr. Dolittle 3, Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief, and Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts. You might also know her from films such as Fat Albert and Hotel for Dogs. More recently, she has been in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder on Disney+, where she voices Penny Proud again.

Early Life and Start in Acting
Kyla Alissa Pratt was born on September 16, 1986. Her mom, Kecia Pratt, was a school teacher, and her dad, Johnny McCullar, was a basketball player. Kyla is the oldest of five children in her family.
She started acting when she was just eight years old. Her first jobs were in commercials for a computer game and for the sports brand Nike.
Kyla's Acting Journey
Kyla quickly began appearing in many popular TV shows. In 1997, she was in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. She played a young girl who helped her community come together. She also had roles in shows like Friends, Smart Guy, Sister, Sister, Family Matters, Lizzie McGuire, and Moesha.
Becoming a Star in TV Shows
In 2001, Kyla got a big role as Breanna Barnes in the UPN series One on One. This show ran for five years, from 2001 to 2006. While working on One on One, Kyla also became the voice of Penny Proud, the main character in the Disney Channel animated series The Proud Family. She continued to voice Penny in The Proud Family Movie in 2005.
Movies and More TV Roles
Besides her TV work, Kyla has been in several movies. She played Maya Dolittle in the films Dr. Dolittle (1998) and Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001), where she acted alongside Eddie Murphy. Kyla Pratt has been in a relationship with Danny Kirkpatrick since 2008. Danny is a rapper, songwriter, and tattoo artist. They have two daughters together: Lyric, born in 2010, and Liyah, born in 2013. Kyla and Danny also appeared together on the reality show Black Ink Crew: Compton in 2019.
