The Adventures of Batman was a cool animated TV show about the famous Batman and his sidekick, Robin. It was made by Lou Scheimer's Filmation studios. This show first aired on CBS on September 14, 1968.
The series originally featured 12-minute Batman stories that were part of The Batman/Superman Hour. Later, these Batman segments were repackaged into their own 30-minute show. This new version was called Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder. It did not include the Superman or Superboy cartoons.

Who Voiced Batman and Robin?
Olan Soule was the voice of Batman. He was well-known for his work on this show and many other cartoons from Filmation. Casey Kasem, famous for his radio work and voiceovers, played the part of Robin.

The show also featured other talented voice actors. Ted Knight narrated the series, telling viewers what was happening. He also voiced some of the characters. Jane Webb provided voices for many of the female characters, including Batgirl and Catwoman.

Batman and Robin showed up in two episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies. They also appeared in different versions of Super Friends. In Super Friends, Olan Soule and Casey Kasem returned to voice Batman and Robin again. Later, a new show called The New Adventures of Batman premiered in 1977.

Many episodes featured exciting plots and challenges for Batman and Robin. For example:
- In "My Crime Is Your Crime," Batman and Robin were confused when Joker and Penguin were arrested for crimes they didn't commit.
- "The Cool, Cruel Mr. Freeze" showed Mr. Freeze trying to ransom a billion dollars from the city.
- "The Nine Lives of Batman" featured Catwoman trying to discover Batman's secret identity.
- "Hizzoner the Joker" had the Joker actually running for mayor of Gotham City!
- "The Great Scarecrow Scare" saw Scarecrow trying to get rid of Batman and Robin.
- "A Mad, Mad Tea Party" involved the Mad Hatter using an Alice in Wonderland theme for his crimes.

Sometimes, other heroes like Batgirl would join Batman and Robin. The show also introduced some unique villains. One original villain, Simon the Pieman, was a flamboyant pastry chef who committed crimes. He later made a small appearance in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon.
