The Ben is a famous Rwandan singer and songwriter. His real name is Benjamin Mugisha. He was born on January 9, 1987, in Kampala, Uganda. He is known for his R&B and Afrobeats music.

Early Career and Moving to the US

The Ben started his music career in Rwanda. In 2010, he moved to the United States. There, he worked with Mike-E Ellison, a hip-hop artist from Detroit. He was even invited to perform at the UN headquarters.

Awards and Hit Songs

In October 2012, The Ben released a song called "I'm in Love". This song was so popular that it helped create a new award category in Rwanda. He became the first person to win the "Best Music Artist in the Diaspora" award at the 2012 Salax Music Awards. "Diaspora" means people who live outside their home country.

In 2021, a Rwandan music video director named Julien Bmjizzo directed the video for The Ben's song "Why". This song featured Diamond Platnumz, a well-known singer from Tanzania.
