The Charlie Horse Music Pizza was a fun American children's TV show. It aired on PBS in the United States from January 5, 1998, to January 17, 1999. You could still catch reruns until December 29, 2000, and later on PBJ until 2016.

This show was a spin-off from another popular series, Lamb Chop's Play-Along!. It was hosted by the amazing Shari Lewis. Shari strongly believed that music education was super important for kids. This belief led her to create The Charlie Horse Music Pizza. Just like Lamb Chop's Play-Along, this show was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Charlie Horse Music Pizza was Shari Lewis's last big project.

Meet the Characters at the Pizza Place

The show's main setting is a cool pizzeria right on the beach. Besides the familiar faces like Lamb Chop, Hush Puppy, Charlie Horse, and Shari Lewis, Charlie Horse Music Pizza brought in five new and exciting characters.

  • Take Out is a big, friendly orangutan who delivers pizzas on roller skates. He's played by Chancz Perry.
  • Fingers is a giant, purple raccoon with a lot of personality. He lives in the dumpster behind the pizzeria and is played by Gordon Robertson.
  • Cookie is the kind-hearted cook who loves opera music. He's played by the famous Dom DeLuise.
  • Junior is a cool teenager who works part-time at the pizzeria. He also plays the tuba in his high school marching band and is played by Wezley Morris.
  • Holly is a young girl who uses a wheelchair. She's played by Chantal Strand.

Why the Show Ended

After Lamb Chop's Play-Along! finished, Shari Lewis and her husband Jeremy wanted to create a new show. They noticed that many schools were cutting music classes. So, they decided to make The Charlie Horse Music Pizza to help kids learn about music in a fun way.

Sadly, Shari Lewis became very ill. Because of her illness, the show had to pause production on June 18, 1998. Shari Lewis passed away on August 2, 1998. After her passing, The Charlie Horse Music Pizza was canceled. The very last episode aired on January 17, 1999.
