The Story of the Cookie Thief
A new and exciting place, the Museum of Cookie Art, opened its doors on Sesame Street. Cookie Monster was super excited to visit with his friends, Chris and Elmo. Their friend Prairie Dawn was even working there as a tour guide!
Cookie Monster's Museum Visit
When they saw the art, Cookie Monster's eyes grew wide. The museum had amazing cookie versions of famous paintings. These included Mona Lisa by da Vinci, The Potato Eaters by Van Gogh, and The Scream by Munch. Cookie Monster, of course, wanted to eat every single one! Chris quickly reminded him that he could only look at the art, not eat it. A watchful security guard, played by Rachel Dratch, kept a close eye on him.
The Mystery of the Missing Cookies
Suddenly, the cookie paintings started to disappear! The security guard and her penguin helpers immediately thought Cookie Monster was the thief. But Elmo decided to become a detective to solve the mystery. He found a trail of cookie crumbs, butter, and chocolate chips. Elmo cleverly guessed that the thief must be an anthropomorphic (human-like) chocolate chip cookie!
Catching the Real Thief
Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Chris tried to tell the guards their discovery. However, the guards did not believe them and asked them to leave the museum. Once outside, they called Abby Cadabby for help. Abby used her magic to turn them into a painting. She then took their painting to the museum, where it was put on display. Just as they planned, the real Cookie Thief stole their painting!
They quickly changed back to their normal forms. The museum guards, who now believed Cookie Monster was innocent, joined the chase. They all worked together to catch the thief.
A Lesson About Art
When they caught the Cookie Thief, he explained why he stole the art. He said he loved cookie art so much that he just couldn't help himself. Cookie Monster understood his feelings. But he also explained that if the thief stole the paintings, no one else could enjoy them. Cookie Monster then suggested that the thief could create his own cookie art. The thief loved this idea and soon had his own amazing cookie art displayed in the museum for everyone to see!
