What Happens in the Story
A Family Reunion and New Challenges
The story begins with Goldilocks kissing Henry Grimm. He is Sabrina and Daphne's father. This kiss is meant to wake him from a magic sleep. But it seems like it didn't work at first.
Meanwhile, Sabrina and Daphne are taken by Ms. Smirt. She is a very strict foster care worker. Luckily, Daphne had a clever plan ready. Puck, a mischievous character, flies in and scares Ms. Smirt. He also scares everyone else on the train.
Henry and Veronica, who also woke up, arrive with their friends. They save the girls from Ms. Smirt. Henry finds it hard to believe how much his daughters have grown. He is worried about their use of magic. He remembers how magic caused his own father's death. Henry decides to take Sabrina and Daphne away from Ferryport Landing. He wants them to go back to New York City.
Fighting the Scarlet Hand
Before they can leave, the Scarlet Hand surrounds their house. They shoot Uncle Jake in the shoulder. Granny knows he needs medical help right away. She sends everyone into the Hall of Wonders. They go to the Room of Reflections. This room has many magic mirrors.
They enter what turns out to be a rebel fort. Charming leads this fort. They are fighting against the Scarlet Hand. Henry still refuses to stay and fight. He makes Daphne, Sabrina, and Veronica pack up. He forces them to leave the fort.
Sadly, a group of trolls working for the Scarlet Hand corners them. The trolls attack the family. Henry and Veronica fight incredibly well. The girls watch them in amazement. After defeating many trolls, the family must return to Camp Charming.
A Rescue Mission and a Sad Loss
Uncle Jake asks the girls for help. He wants to rescue his love, Briar Rose. She is also known as Sleeping Beauty. He had even bought an engagement ring for her. Uncle Jake gets hurt, and Daphne accidentally turns Sabrina into a goose. Despite this, Briar is rescued.
However, dragons are sent after the group. Briar is tragically lost during the battle. Sabrina accidentally tells Puck that they will get married in the future. This causes a big fight between them.
Choosing Sides in the War
The Grimm family realizes they must pick a side. Everyone except Henry agrees to help Charming's army. They let the army use magical weapons from the Hall of Wonders. But the army suffers a terrible defeat. This is because there is a spy in the camp.
Charming sets a trap to find the spy. He discovers that Pinocchio is the spy. Pinocchio was promised he could grow up and become a real man.
A Stolen Baby and a New Enemy
The girls secretly listen in on a conversation. They learn that their mother was pregnant. She was pregnant when she was put under the sleeping spell. The baby was born, but the Scarlet Hand stole it.
The camp is attacked again by the Scarlet Hand and dragons. Everyone retreats into the Hall of Wonders. Then they leave to fight once more.
Left in the house, the Grimms find Pinocchio's marionettes running loose. Sabrina, Daphne, and Puck follow them. They go into the Hall of Wonders. They discover the marionettes have opened many rooms there.
The marionettes lead them to the Master. The Master is their friend, Mirror. Mirror explains that he wants to be a real person. He does not want to be just a mirror creature. He takes the girls' baby brother. He goes into a secret room. Only a Grimm can open this room. He forces Sabrina to open the door.
Mirror goes into the Book of Everafter. He plans to rewrite a story. He wants to take the baby's body for himself. The girls follow him. They end up in the Land of Oz. They realize they are separated from Puck, Pinocchio, and their brother.
