The Story of Texas's Freedom
Sam Houston's New Start
The movie begins with Sam Houston, a leader from Tennessee, moving to San Antonio, Texas. He wants to start a new life. In Texas, he meets Jim Bowie, a brave man who strongly believes Texas should be free from Mexico's rule.
Fighting for Justice
Jim Bowie faces a serious legal problem. Sam Houston, who is a skilled lawyer, defends him in court. Houston successfully argues that the accusation against Bowie is not valid. This shows Houston's dedication to justice.
A Call to Lead
Later, the famous frontiersman Davy Crockett brings an important message. It's from U.S. President Andrew Jackson. President Jackson wants Sam Houston to lead the fight for Texas's independence.
The Battle of the Alamo
The movie shows the sad fall of the Alamo. The small group of Texan defenders could not hold back General Antonio López de Santa Anna and his very large Mexican army. This event became a rallying cry for the Texans.
Houston's Clever Plan
After the Alamo, Sam Houston seems to be retreating, which makes some of his men doubt him. But Houston is actually planning a surprise attack. He prepares his forces for a big battle.
Victory and a New Republic
Houston's army attacks Santa Anna's forces. They shout, "Remember the Alamo!" This battle leads to a great victory for the Texans. Texas is then declared a free republic. Sam Houston becomes its first president. This big step eventually leads to Texas becoming a state in the United States.
