Plot Summary: Oscar's Big Adventure
The story starts with Oscar, a dachshund who feels a bit different. He is short and long, like a hot dog. Other dogs sometimes make fun of his shape. But Oscar is excited because it's Halloween! He can't wait to get a cool costume.
Halloween Costume Surprise
Oscar dreams of Halloween even at obedience school. When he gets home, his mom has a surprise. She made him a hot dog bun costume with mustard! Oscar worries he will be laughed at even more. But he wears it to avoid hurting his mom's feelings.
Trick-or-Treating Troubles
Oscar sees other dogs showing off their amazing costumes. When they see Oscar's hot dog outfit, they howl with laughter. His costume is also very heavy, which slows him down. Because he is so slow, Oscar misses out on most of the candy. The other dogs get all the treats before he arrives at the houses.
A Scary Encounter
Later, the dogs go to a graveyard. Suddenly, they hear a strange noise. They get very scared and scream loudly. They think they see a monster and quickly run away. In their panic, they jump into a river.
Oscar Becomes a Hero
Oscar arrives at the graveyard and sees the "monster." He notices something odd about it. Being brave, he bites the monster's cover and pulls it off. To his surprise, he finds two scared cats hiding underneath! The cats scream and run away. Oscar then jumps into the water. He uses his big hot dog costume like a life raft. He helps rescue all the other dogs from the river.
A Happy Ending
The dogs are very thankful to Oscar for saving them. They share all their candy with him. From that day on, Oscar is never made fun of again. He becomes known as "Hero Sandwich" and makes new friends forever.
