Robin Yvette Allen (born February 6, 1968), known as The Lady of Rage, is an American rapper, singer, and actress. She is famous for working with other artists from Death Row Records. These include Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. She appeared on their important albums, The Chronic and Doggystyle. Many people describe The Lady of Rage as a very skilled female rapper. They praise her "mastery of flow" and her "hard-core lyrics."

Her Journey to Fame

Early Steps in Music

In 1988, when she was 20, The Lady of Rage met Shahkim. He was part of a rap group called the Original Outlaw Brothers. Shahkim promised her a record deal. She then joined his group. The Outlaw Brothers signed a deal with L.A. Posse. This group later produced many hits for LL Cool J.

The L.A. Posse worked with several artists. Rage and others wrote and recorded music. In 1991, she sang on a song called "Bring Em Home Safe." This was for Chubb Rock's album The One. She used the name 'Rockin’ Robin' for this song.

Working with Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre discovered The Lady of Rage. He heard her singing on the L.A. Posse's album. This album was called They Come in All Colors (1991). After that, she appeared on many songs. These were on Dr. Dre's 1992 album The Chronic.

First Big Hits

On July 26, 1994, The Lady of Rage released her hit song "Afro Puffs." This song was from the Above the Rim movie soundtrack. It became very popular, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. She also appeared on Tha Dogg Pound's album Dogg Food.

Even though she was on many soundtracks and albums, her first solo album came out later. Her debut album, Necessary Roughness, was released in June 1997. It did well on the music charts. It reached No. 7 on the Billboard R&B Album chart. It also hit No. 32 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.

Moving into Acting

After her album came out, Rage decided to focus on acting. She left Death Row Records. She appeared in an episode of Kenan & Kel. Then, she got a regular role on The Steve Harvey Show. She played Coretta Cox from 1997 to 2000. She also had a role in the movie Next Friday.

Later Music and Projects

From 2000 to 2002, she sang on three songs with Snoop Dogg. These were on his albums Tha Last Meal and Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss.

In 2007, Rage signed with Boss Lady Entertainment. She recorded a mixtape called From VA 2 LA. She also appeared on other albums. In 2008, she joined the FEM (Females Earning Money) Movement. She performed with other famous female rappers. She also performed with Snoop Dogg at the Rock the Bells festival in 2010.

In 2011, Rage was part of a group called N'Matez. They released a song called "Trajical." She is also set to play herself in a movie. This film, Dogg Pound 4 Life, is about the rap group Tha Dogg Pound. In 2017, she appeared on MC Eiht's album Which Way Iz West.
