The Large Family (also known as La Famille Trompette in French) is a fun animated TV show for kids that aired from 2007 to 2010. It's based on a popular series of books by Jill Murphy. This show was made by several companies, including Coolabi and GO-N Entertainment, and was shown on CBeebies in the UK and TF1 in France. The story is all about the Larges, a family of friendly elephants, and their everyday adventures. There are two seasons with a total of 52 episodes, each about 12 minutes long. The first season started on October 15, 2007, and the second season aired in 2010.

The Large Family

  • Mr Larry Large: (voiced by Jeff Rawle) He's the super kind dad of the family. He always tries his best to help everyone.
  • Mrs Linda Large: (voiced by Paula Wilcox) She's the mom of the family. Sometimes she can be a bit forgetful, but she's always loving.
  • Lester Large: (voiced by Tyger Drew-Honey) Lester is the oldest Large child. He loves to ride his skateboard and always tries to act "cool." He usually wears an orange hoodie and brown trousers.
  • Laura Large: (voiced by Rosie Day) Laura is the second-oldest. She's often in charge of her younger siblings. She's very sensible and calm, and she loves to paint pictures.
  • Luke Large: (voiced by Thomas Mole) Luke is the second-youngest. He's full of energy and excitement! He usually wears a green shirt and blue trousers and loves to join in with whatever his older brother and sister are doing.
  • Lucy Large: Lucy is the youngest of the Large children. She's still learning to talk and can only say a few words like "Me" and "Too."

The Smart Family

  • Mr Seymour Smart: (voiced by Struan Rodger) He's the Larges' next-door neighbour. He seems to have a good job and provides his family with lots of expensive things and holidays.
  • Mrs Sheena Smart: (voiced by Josie Lawrence) Mr. Smart's wife is a bit snobby. She loves to get involved in other people's business, especially the Larges', even if they don't want her help.
  • Sebastian Smart: (voiced by Theo Smith) Sebastian is Mr. and Mrs. Smart's son. His parents are very protective of him. He's good friends with the Large children, which his parents aren't always happy about. He also plays the trombone.
  • Sarah Smart: (voiced by Mae Wright) Sarah is Sebastian's cousin. Lester Large really likes her, and it looks like she likes him back too!

Other Friends and Neighbours

  • Miss Lovely: A kind teacher at the Large children's school.
  • Simon Short: He owns the local store where the Larges often shop.
  • Peter Perfect: (voiced by Theo Smith) A boy at school who seems to be good at everything he tries.
  • Simon Strong: He's mentioned in the episode "Dino Disaster."
  • Micky Muddle: He's mentioned in the episode "The Wrong End of the Stick."
  • Susan Special: (voiced by Mae Wright) A girl at school who is always very fashionable.
  • Mrs. Gray: One of the Large Family's older neighbours. She helped teach Lester's class when Miss Lovely was sick in "The Old New Teacher."
  • Mr. Grand: Another of the Larges' older neighbours.
  • Julie: One of Laura's friends.
  • Lola: A girl who appears in the episode "Mr Short's Christmas." She used to have a crush on Lester Large before he met Sarah.
