The History of The Park Hotels
The story of The Park Hotels began in 1967. Surrendra Paul started the first hotel. It was called The Park, Kolkata. This hotel had 150 rooms and was on the famous Park Street. It opened on November 1st.
Soon after, another hotel opened in Visakhapatnam in 1968. The Park New Delhi started welcoming guests in 1987. After Surrendra Paul passed away in 1990, his daughter Priya Paul took over the business.
More hotels were added later. The Park Bangalore opened in 2000. The Park Chennai followed in 2002.
Cool Facts About The Park Hotels
The Park New Delhi helped restore an old observatory in 2000. This was the Jantar Mantar, built in 1724. They worked with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to fix it up.
In 2006, a magazine called Forbes listed "Atrium" in The Park Chennai. This restaurant had a menu created by a famous Italian chef. Forbes said it was one of India's top 10 most expensive restaurants.
