The Runners are an American music production team from Orlando, Florida. This duo is made up of two talented guys: Andrew "Dru Brett" Harr and Jermaine "Mayne Zayne" Jackson. They create amazing electronic and hip hop music. They've known each other since they were very young, even in kindergarten! They officially formed their team in the year 2000.
These music makers have always been inspired by famous producers like Timbaland and the Neptunes. You can often tell a song they produced by a special "Ahhh" sound effect at the very beginning. The Runners are super famous for making hit songs like "Go Hard" by DJ Khaled and "Hustlin'" by Rick Ross. They have also worked with many other big artists such as Keyshia Cole, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, and Usher.
How The Runners Started
Andrew and Jermaine first met when they were toddlers in Vero Beach, Florida. They became good friends and shared a love for music. In 2000, they decided to officially team up and call themselves The Runners. They set up their music studio in Orlando, Florida. There, they also started their own company called Trac-N-Field Entertainment.
Their hard work paid off! In 2008, The Runners were nominated for the "Producer of the Year" award at the BET Awards. This was a big honor for them, showing how much their music was loved.
Famous Songs and Projects
The Runners have produced many popular songs for well-known artists. They worked on two songs for Rihanna's album Loud: "Cheers (Drink to That)" and "California King Bed". They also produced "Swagger Jagger", which was the first song released by British singer Cher Lloyd.
In 2012, they even went into the studio to create music for the global superstar Shakira. While they are mostly known for hip hop music, they have also made songs for TV shows. For example, they produced the intro music for John Walsh's show, Americas Most Wanted. In 2014, they released their very first dance music song called "We Will Stand".
