The Son of Sobek is an exciting fantasy short story written by Rick Riordan. It was first published in 2013. This story is special because it brings together characters from two of Riordan's popular book series: The Kane Chronicles and The Heroes of Olympus (which is part of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians world). It's the first time these two magical worlds meet! Later, this story was included in a book called Demigods and Magicians: Percy and Annabeth Meet the Kanes, which has more crossover adventures.

The Story of "The Son of Sobek"
The adventure begins when Carter Kane, a powerful Egyptian magician, hears about strange magic happening in Long Island. He goes to investigate and finds himself in a marsh. Suddenly, a giant crocodile swallows him whole!
Luckily, a mysterious older teenager saves Carter. This teenager forces the monster to spit Carter out. The helpful stranger turns out to be Percy Jackson, a Greek demigod and son of Poseidon.
Percy and Carter are a bit confused by each other's powers. But they quickly decide to work together. The huge crocodile has escaped and is now scaring people in a nearby neighborhood.
Carter figures out that the monster is a petsuchos. This is a special crocodile, a son of the Egyptian god Sobek. A petsuchos is super strong and almost impossible to defeat. It gets its power from an enchanted necklace it wears. The only way to stop it is to remove this necklace.
Working together, Percy and Carter manage to take off the necklace. As soon as it's gone, the giant crocodile shrinks into a tiny baby crocodile!
After saving the neighborhood, the two heroes go to a diner to talk. They are careful about what they share, but they figure out a way to contact each other if they ever need to team up again. Then, they go their separate ways. Carter takes the baby crocodile and its magical necklace back to the 21st Nome for safekeeping.
