The Adventure Begins
Annabeth Chase has a dream where her mother, Athena, warns her of trouble. Annabeth and Percy Jackson travel to Governors Island in New York Harbor. They get trapped there by a powerful magician named Setne. Setne is trying to become a god using spells from the Book of Thoth.
The two heroes try to contact Carter and Sadie Kane but cannot reach them. Annabeth and Percy decide to face Setne alone. However, Setne uses his magic to stop them. He then summons the goddess Wadjet. Setne wants to take her power and the Crown of Lower Egypt. This would make him master of half the Egyptian world. After this, Setne disappears.
Joining Forces
The Kane siblings finally arrive to help Percy and Annabeth. They work together to track down Setne. Carter and Annabeth decide they need to combine their powers to defeat him. Percy's sword was taken by Setne, so Carter gives Percy his magic wand. The wand changes into a kopis, a curved sword.
Sadie and Annabeth teach each other some basic magic spells. Annabeth also lends Carter her special invisibility cap. The four teens find Setne again. He is now trying to summon the goddess Nekhbet. She is the guardian of the crown of Upper Egypt. Even with Nekhbet's help, they cannot stop Setne from taking her crown. The group has to retreat. Nekhbet insists that Setne must not become a god. So, the four young heroes team up with her.
The Final Battle
After a quick talk, Percy agrees to let Nekhbet use him as a host. This is their last chance to defeat Setne. They attack Setne for a third time. They use their different strengths and Setne's pride to keep him busy. Carter casts a spell that traps Setne inside a snow globe. Nekhbet then takes back her crown.
Percy gets his sword back. Annabeth tells Sadie that she is starting to forget the Egyptian magic she learned. Percy and Annabeth decide not to tell Camp Half-Blood about their adventure. They worry about what might happen if Greek and Egyptian magic mix too much. However, all four heroes agree to stay in touch. The Kanes and the Greek demigods then go their separate ways.
