The World's End is a famous pub and music place in Camden Town, London, England. It's right near the Camden Town tube station. There's also another one in Finsbury Park, London. This place has been around for a very long time. It used to be called Mother Red Cap or Mother Damnable's.

The World's End: A Cool Music Spot

The World's End is more than just a pub. It's a well-known spot for live music. Many bands have played here. It's a popular place for people to hang out and enjoy shows.

A Look Back: Its History

The first time anyone wrote about a tavern in this area was in 1690. Back then, the area was mostly countryside. The pub relied on travelers going between London, Hampstead, and Highgate. Because of this, it was sometimes called Halfway House.

From Old Names to Today

By 1751, two pubs were open: the Mother Red Cap and the Mother Black Cap. The Mother Red Cap was in the same spot it is today. It even had a special garden for tea. Later, a road was built across its land. The building you see now was built in 1875. It was designed by H.H. Bridgman.

How It Grew Bigger

The World's End became much larger thanks to a person named Andrew Marler. He owned the pub when it could hold about 200 people. In 1988, he bought the whole area around it. He then made the pub much bigger, so it could hold 1,000 people.

He also built the Underworld venue right underneath the pub. This venue can hold 500 people. Andrew Marler continued to create places where people could enjoy entertainment and buy drinks.

Music and Fun at The World's End

Both The World's End and its Underworld Club are famous for music. They have even won awards like "Venue of the Year." Many well-known bands and artists have performed here.

Some of the famous names include Dave Stewart, The Cranberries, Stuck Mojo, The Datsuns, The Darkness, and Radiohead. It's also a popular place for extreme metal bands.
