History of Thedford
The village of Thedford was started in 1887. This happened when the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad built its tracks to this spot. At that time, Thedford was chosen to be the county seat, which means it became the main administrative town for the county.
The town was likely named after Thedford, a place in Ontario, Canada. Thedford officially became a village in 1914.

Thedford is a small village with a total area of about 0.23 square miles (0.62 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
The village is located where two important roads meet: U.S. Route 83 and Nebraska Route 2. This makes it easy to get to and from Thedford.
