Theodoor "Theo" van Gogh (23 July 1957 – 2 November 2004) was a Dutch movie director, producer, writer, and actor. He was born in The Hague, Netherlands. His great-great uncle was the famous artist Vincent van Gogh.
Theo van Gogh's Work
Theo van Gogh was known for making movies and writing. He often shared his opinions as a columnist. He worked with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a writer and politician born in Somalia. Together, they made a short movie called Submission in 2004. This movie explored the topic of women's lives in some Islamic cultures.
His last movie, 06/05, was finished just before he passed away. This film was a fictional story about the killing of a Dutch politician named Pim Fortuyn.
His Passing
On 2 November 2004, Theo van Gogh was killed in Amsterdam. He was 47 years old at the time.
