The Third Republic of Venezuela (Spanish: Tercera República de Venezuela) was a country in South America. It was a new version of the Republic of Venezuela. Simón Bolívar declared it in 1817. This happened during the Venezuelan War of Independence. This war was fought to gain freedom from Spain.
Venezuela became an independent republic again in 1830. This was after it separated from Gran Colombia. José Antonio Páez became its president at that time.

The Third Republic was a period when Venezuela tried to be an independent country. It was a republic, meaning people had a say in their government. This period lasted only for a short time. It existed from 1817 to 1819.
How It Started
The Third Republic began after the Guyana Campaign. This was a military effort by the independence fighters. They won control of the Guayana region. This victory helped them set up a new government. They restored democratic ways in a city called Angostura. This city is now known as Ciudad Bolívar.
How It Ended
The Third Republic ended in 1819. This happened after a big meeting called the Congress of Angostura. At this meeting, leaders decided to join Venezuela with another region. This region was called New Granada. Together, they formed a larger country. This new country was named Gran Colombia. So, Venezuela became part of Gran Colombia.
