Thiên Đường Cave, also known as Paradise Cave, is an amazing cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park. This park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cave is about 60 kilometers (37 miles) northwest of Đồng Hới city in Vietnam.

Paradise Cave sits high up, about 200 meters (656 feet) above sea level. It is found near the west side of the Ho Chi Minh Highway. This special cave is in Son Trach Commune, Bố Trạch District, Quảng Bình Province.

Discovery and Exploration

A local person first found Thiên Đường Cave in 2005. Soon after, explorers from the British Cave Research Association began to explore it. In 2005, they explored the first 5 kilometers (3 miles) of the cave. Later, these British explorers explored the entire cave, which is 31 kilometers (19 miles) long. They then told the public about their amazing discovery.

This cave is actually longer than Phong Nha Cave, which was once thought to be the longest in the national park. Thiên Đường Cave is also very tall and wide. It can reach a height of 72 meters (236 feet) and a width of 150 meters (492 feet). The rock formations inside are truly spectacular. The British explorers were so amazed by the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites that they named it Thiên Đường Cave, meaning Paradise Cave.

Unique Wildlife

In 2012, scientists made another exciting discovery inside the cave. They found a new type of scorpion! This special scorpion lives only in caves and was named Vietbocap thienduongensis.

Visiting Paradise Cave

The company Truong Thinh Group built the roads to and inside the cave. Thiên Đường Cave opened for tourists on September 3, 2010.

Getting to the Cave Entrance

When you visit, you will find a car park about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) from the cave's entrance. From there, you can either walk on a paved road or take a golf cart to reach the mouth of the cave.

Exploring Inside the Cave

Currently, only the first 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) of the cave is open for visitors to explore. This part still offers incredible views of the cave's natural beauty.
