Thomas was once a small community in King County, Washington. It was located north of the city of Auburn, right along the Green River. Today, Thomas is considered a ghost town, meaning it's a place where people used to live, but now it's mostly empty or abandoned.

What Was Thomas?

Thomas was a settlement that grew up in the Green River Valley. It was built on the west side of the river. Another community, called Christopher, was located between Thomas and Auburn. Christopher is also a ghost town today.

At its busiest, Thomas had important places like a post office where people could send and receive mail. It also had a school, which means families lived there and children attended classes.

How Thomas Got Its Name

The community of Thomas was named after a person who lived in the area. His name was John M. Thomas. It was common for early settlements to be named after important local residents or landowners.
