Early Life and War Experiences
Thomas R. St. George was born in 1919. When he grew up, he joined the U.S. Army. He served as a soldier during World War II.
His most famous book is C/O Postmaster. It tells about his own experiences as a U.S. soldier in Australia in 1942. The book was very popular and became a best-seller in 1943. It was even chosen by the Time Book of the Month Club.
In 1945, he wrote a second book called Proceed Without Delay. This book continued his adventures in the Pacific Ocean area during World War II. He worked as a writer for Yank, the Army Weekly magazine at that time.
After the War: Writing and Reporting
After World War II, St. George became a screenwriter in Hollywood. He wrote movie scripts, including one for the film Campus Honeymoon.
Later, he worked for newspapers in different cities. He was a reporter, an editor, and wrote columns for papers in Rochester, Minnesota, San Diego, Philadelphia, and St. Paul, Minnesota. He stopped working for newspapers in 1994.
The Eddie Devlin Compendium
After retiring from newspaper work, Thomas St. George spent many years writing a series of nine novels. These books are called the Eddie Devlin Compendium. They are funny stories that are partly based on his own life.
The series follows a group of characters through important times in American history:

- Life in a retirement home around the year 2000.

Family Life
In 1945, at the end of World War II, Thomas St. George married a woman he met in Brisbane, Australia. She was a Staff Sergeant in the WAC (Women's Army Corps). They had four children together.
His first wife passed away in 1994. His son died in 2004, and his second wife died in 2014. His three daughters now live in Wisconsin, Maine, and England. In his later years, St. George lived in the Rochester, Minnesota area.
