The Thornapple River is a cool river in Wisconsin, United States. It flows through Sawyer and Rusk counties. This river is a great place for outdoor fun and seeing nature.

Where the River Flows

The Thornapple River begins its journey in the northeastern part of Sawyer County, Wisconsin. It starts in a big forest called the Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest. From there, the river mostly flows towards the south and southwest.

It continues its path until it reaches another, larger river. The Thornapple River empties into the Chippewa River. This meeting point is close to a town called Bruce, Wisconsin.

Little Thornapple Rivers

Did you know there are two smaller rivers named Little Thornapple River? Both of these streams flow into the main Thornapple River. It can be a bit confusing because they share the same name!

One of these smaller rivers joins the Thornapple from the right side. It is completely within Sawyer County. The other Little Thornapple River flows in from the left side. It starts in southern Sawyer County and then moves into Rusk County before joining the main river.
