Thrasyvoulos Zaimis (born 1822, died 1880) was an important Greek politician. He even became the 21st Prime Minister of Greece, which is like being the head of the government.

Thrasyvoulos was born in a place called Kerpini, in Kalavryta, on October 29, 1822. His father, Andreas Zaimis, was also a leader. Andreas helped Greece gain its freedom from the Ottoman Empire.

Early Life and Career

Thrasyvoulos Zaimis went to France to study law. After finishing his studies, he returned to Greece.

Entering Politics

In 1850, Thrasyvoulos Zaimis was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament. This is the main law-making body in Greece. He was a member of Parliament for many years.

Leading the Parliament

Zaimis served four times as the President of Parliament. This means he was in charge of the meetings and debates. He also worked as a minister in different governments.

Key Achievements

Thrasyvoulos Zaimis played a big role in Greek history. He helped Greece grow and become stronger.

The Ionian Islands

In 1864, Zaimis represented the Greek government. He was there to accept the Ionian Islands from the British government. This was a special gift to Greece. It happened when King George of Greece became king.

Thrasyvoulos Zaimis served as Prime Minister of Greece two times. His first term was from 1869 to 1870. His second term was in 1871.

Later Life and Legacy

Thrasyvoulos Zaimis passed away in Athens on October 27, 1880.
