Exploring Tiana's Geography

Tiana is a village located about 600 meters (about 1,968 feet) above sea level. This means it sits quite high up in the mountains. The tall peaks around the village are more than 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) high. These peaks are the last parts of the Gennargentu mountain range. The highest point in Tiana's area is Bruncu Muncinale, which is 1,267 meters (4,157 feet) above sea level.

The village is surrounded by a lovely green landscape. This area is covered with many different kinds of trees. You can find thick forests of ilex (a type of oak) and cork trees. There are also many chestnut and walnut trees. Tiana is part of the National Park of the Bay of Orosei and Gennargentu. This park helps protect the amazing nature and wildlife in the area.

A Look into Tiana's History

People have lived in the Tiana area for a very long time. Evidence shows that people were here during the Neolithic period. This was a time in history when people started farming and building permanent settlements.

One type of evidence found in Tiana is called Domus de Janas. These are ancient burial sites carved into rock. They are found in an area called Mancosu. There are also remains of Nuraghic settlements. These are ancient stone towers built by the Nuraghic civilization in Sardinia. You can find these remains in the Sa Piraera and Tudulo areas. These findings tell us that Tiana has a rich and ancient past.
