About the Tianshan Cherry Plant

Flowers and Fruit
This cherry plant has pretty pink flowers. Its fruits are small and dark red. Even though they are small, these fruits are very sweet. People find them quite tasty.
Natural Hybrids
Sometimes, the Tianshan cherry naturally mixes with another plant called Prunus cerasifera. When these two plants cross, they create new plants. These new plants can also produce fruit.

Scientists study how plants are related. They found that Cerasus tianshanica is actually the same as Prunus tianshanica. This means the Tianshan cherry is correctly called Prunus tianshanica.
