Tidbury Creek is a small river, also called a creek, located in Kent County, Delaware. It flows for about 8.18 mi (13.16 km) (which is about 8.18 kilometers) before joining a larger river called the St. Jones River. Think of it as a smaller stream that feeds into a bigger one!

Where Tidbury Creek Starts and Flows

Tidbury Creek begins its journey about half a mile north of a town called Viola. It starts in an area where water naturally divides, flowing into different streams.

From its starting point, Tidbury Creek flows generally towards the east. Its path takes it through parts of Kent County. Finally, it reaches its end when it flows into the St. Jones River near a place called Lebanon, Delaware.

The Area Around Tidbury Creek

The land area that Tidbury Creek drains is called its watershed. This watershed covers about 12.14 square miles (31.4 km2) (which is about 31.44 square kilometers). This means all the rain that falls in this area eventually makes its way into Tidbury Creek.

On average, the area around Tidbury Creek gets about 44.8 inches of rain each year. A small part of this watershed, about 5.9%, is covered by forests. This mix of land helps keep the creek healthy.

Other Waterways and Bridges

Tidbury Creek has some smaller streams that flow into it, which are called tributaries. On its left side, it receives water from Red House Branch and Newell Branch. There are also some unnamed streams that join it from the right side.

Along its path, Tidbury Creek passes under many bridges. These bridges help roads cross over the creek, connecting different communities. Some of these roads include Olin Dill Road, US 13, and Rising Sun Road.
