History of Viola
Viola was founded in 1856. This happened after the Delaware Railroad opened a train station there. The town was built on land that was originally called Golden Thicket. This land was owned by William Shores way back in 1681.

Viola is a very small town. It covers a total area of about 0.2 square miles (0.46 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no lakes or large rivers within the town limits.
