Felton is a small town in Kent County, Delaware, United States. It is part of the larger Dover metropolitan area. In 2020, about 1,568 people lived there.

History of Felton
Felton started in 1856 as a "whistle stop" for the Delaware Railroad. A whistle stop was a small train station where trains would only stop if someone wanted to get on or off. The town was named after Samuel Morse Felton Sr.. He was the president of the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad.
Samuel M. Felton Sr. helped build the railroad through rural Delaware. This led to the creation of towns like Felton. The town officially became a town on February 2, 1861. Trains continued to carry passengers to Felton until the early 1950s.
Several important places in Felton are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These include the Coombe Historic District, the Thomas B. Coursey House, the Felton Historic District, the Felton Railroad Station, and the Hughes Early Man Sites. These places are protected because of their historical importance.

U.S. Route 13 is a major road that goes through Felton. It runs north towards Dover and south towards Harrington. Delaware Route 12 also passes through Felton. It goes west towards Greensboro, Maryland and east towards Frederica.
You can also get around Felton using buses. DART First State provides bus service on Route 117. This route connects Felton to Camden and other bus routes in the Dover area. A train line, the Delmarva Subdivision, also runs through Felton.
