The Story of Tiger
Tiger became an official town in 1904. This means the Georgia General Assembly (like a state government) made it a real town.
There are two interesting stories about how Tiger got its name. One story says it was named after a Cherokee chief called Tiger Tail. The other, more likely story, is that the name came from the sounds of panthers roaming the area.
