The Timiş River, also known as Tamiş, is a long river in Europe. It flows for about 359 kilometers (223 miles). The river starts in the Semenic Mountains in Romania. These mountains are part of the larger Carpathian Mountains.

The Timiş River begins in Caraş-Severin County, Romania. It then travels through a region called Banat. Finally, it flows into the Danube River. This happens near the city of Pančevo in northern Serbia.

River Facts

The Timiş River is important for the land around it. Its entire drainage area covers about 13,085 square kilometers (5,052 square miles). This area is where all the rain and snow eventually flow into the river.

About 8,085 square kilometers of this area are in Romania. The remaining 5,000 square kilometers are in Serbia.

The river actually starts from three smaller streams. These streams are called Brebu, Grădiştea, and Semenic. They all meet up in a place called Lake Trei Ape.

Rivers Joining the Timiş

The Timiş River flows through Romania for 241 kilometers (150 miles). Many smaller rivers and streams join it along the way. These are called tributaries.
