Timrå Municipality (called Timrå kommun in Swedish) is a special area in Västernorrland County, Sweden. It is like a local government area. The main town and where the local government meets is Timrå.
Timrå was first a rural area. In 1947, it became a "market town" (köping), which is a town with special trading rights. The current municipality was formed in 1971. This happened when Timrå joined with another area called Hässjö.
